no they did a mk2.  only left hand drive.

its also a mk3 item but to fit g40's in countys that didnt need the car to have a cat.

to my knowledge mine came with one fitted, car was completely standard but it does oddly have a catalyst badge on it!
it was owned by some head mechanic at VAG i was told so he may have spec'd it up...
try searching for the downpipe on vag software for an early G (mines a 92) and see if it comes up with a dif part no?!
