300 mm steering wheel is much cheaper

Probably not much cheaper if you factor in a decent momo or similar wheel and a fitting boss. Circa £150 new. I dont know if any one has ever produced a quick rack but a smaller steering wheel will only give you sligthly quicker steering in terms of hand movement, it wont get your vehicle in any tighter than a standard wheel.

Thts a shame because i think the polo suffers from a lot of steering rotations..
my friends manta has quick rack and is simply far better...
i wonder if any of the genius's on here could fabricate one ;)

djtez

got ppp setup :)
wishbone converson.. with kw's
polybushd arm's..

the polo holds well in the front end.
the back not so much..
if a had a quicker rack then i could catch lift off oversteer , whch g40's suffer badly from, alot easier..

Might be worthwhile investing in an LSD or ATB diff then to compliment those other mods ;D

Has no one ever looked  into making some sort of inderpendant rear suspention to replace the rear beam on g40's??
I know of a chap who makes a setup for the fwd escorts much like the maxi escorts used to run?

If i could find the pics ive got somewere id show what i mean!

polo classic

seen pictures of it many moons ago, on a berg cup car

bbspolo

yer its a big thing to do if ur serious on the fwd escort thing as they suffer from lift of understeer with big hp and track sorted suspention!

Trying to find the pics i have of it but struggling!

i have cup gear box with lsd :)
polo is just so rear end happy and sometimes it just snakes up the road till it straightens its self

Triangulate and turret the rear axle.  Can also sort a better rear arb setup similar to nick wilson's setup.

Also look into spring rates at the rear if your suffering lift off oversteer... that or read the road ahead so you shouldn't have to.  Being fast is being progressive - learnt that on a high performance course many moons ago, lol.

benh999

yup, progressive driving combined with right car = quickest from A to B ;)

triangulate ..? ftom rear hub to roughly middle of beam . . i'msure a long time ago isaw that on club polo
