Anyone else have this problem? at 70 (3000rpm ish) the car is really really loud, think its the exhaust. it quietens off at 90-100 and is so much nicer to drive at those speeds.

is it just the awful back box i have? any recommendations for one?

or would a standard one be best? lack of power? i have read that apart from the manifolds the rest of the exhaust on VW's doesn't make much power difference if you get uprated ones.

Also, if I wanted to go back to the airbox from the Jabba induction kit, do i need the smaller collar on the charger inlet, or does the airbox pipe just fit without the collar?

Thanks!

it's obviously just the resonant frequency of the exhaust system.  A quieter system will make it better.

Standard is OK up to a point, if you are tuning the engine for power then it'll probably become a restriction much above 140bhp or so.

the pipe on the standard airbox just bolts right onto the charger inlet.

Hmm, will deffo have to look into it, dont want to loose power, but im not really a power chaser, its my daily and its quick enough really, might look into a standard air box too, you know if thats much of a restriction compared to the jabba induction kit?

You can't get a quiet 2.5" bore system onto a G40, without a load of silencers. Bastuk have 3 (probably the msot you can fit under a Polo) and our twin silenced systems are still quieter.

Depending on your choice of mods, the exhaust is usually the loudest at peak torque/speed. Unfortunately with a G40s gearing this happens to be at motorway speeds.

Andy's car was very loud with a Tube Torque system on, now with a turbo and the same system, it's queit as a mouse  :)
