Scroll bearing

Hi all,

When replacing the centre scroll bearing, should there be any side to side movement in it or should it be a tight fit?  I know obviosly it should roll in a bearing type way, but mine feels kind of loose and you can hear it moving when you shake the casing.

Just wondering if this is the source of my noise.

they do have some play, presumably for heat expansion (the same way the other bearings are a c3 clearance)

is it still loose when the shaft is in place, as it will appear rattley until you fit the inner race(ie the shaft).  If the outer race is loose in the scroll then this would indicate a worn inner locating diameter, depending how loose it is you can get away with fitting with loctite bearing retaining stuff(pretty much the same as studlock) just don't get it in the race.  The allternative option if the wear is particulaly bad then you can sleeve the scroll, but you'll need access to a good lathe and materials, if sleeving the scroll then it may need rebalancing depending on the sleeve material.
