hi people just finished building my g40 polo from ground up and im well happy but want more power.

so far ive got

standard bottom end
ported, polished and rebuilt head by jabbasport
ported gt inlet
ported standard exhaust manifold
standard exhaust with jetex back box
standard injectors but referbished
toothed belt kit
stage 4 charger
jabbasport induction kit
still have boost return pipes on but not sure if its worth blocking it off.
its making 142 bhp but i want more lol

i really need a g40 atv gearbox tho.

any ideas guys?

cheers  :)

Robin

you need to get the following in the following order:

1. 250cc Injectors and ECU map to suit the injectors - contact Polo Performance Parts

2. PPP 4 Branch Manifold and PPP 63mm exhaust

3. Front Mounted Intercooler

4. 51mm Throttle Body

5. Aquamist Methanol Injection

6. Custom ECU map.

With the above you should be seeing around 165-170bhp.

or if you wanna go proper power then its time for turbo!

bbvw

thanks for that mate, you lot on here are great. how much is the hole exhaust? are 250cc injectors g60 ones? where can you get 51mm inlet from then?

are you running turbo then? what sort of money is turbo setup?

thanks  :)

Robin

You'll be looking around £700 for a 4 branch and full exhaust system to suit.

yes thats correct on the injectors.

as for the 51mm TB you'll just have to keep your eye out on the forums for people selling them, they are quite hard to find to be honest.

i am running turbo yes, for the full set up its around £800 ish.

Get a cam and suitable chip first. That should take you up to close to 170 bhp, then 4-branch

Robin

yeah sorry i missed the cam out!

i'd go for the injectors first before the cam as you don't want the engine melting itself especially with a standard bottom end.

I doubt you will see 170bhp with just the cam and chip without pretty much all those mods. I was running 166bhp with the all the mods including a 1341cc bottom end, judging by what a few guys were saying the max i would see would be around 180bhp.

With the same spec as his, pluss twin inlet, 264/270 cam and 4 branch I was running 168 bhp when it hit the limiter, but it was climbing all the way to the limiter (6987), due to the fact that I got a bit greedy when I ordered the cam

Anyone fancy guessin what mines gna be puttin out, not on road yet so obvipusly couldnt take it to a rolling road lol. So far i have done the following:
Bored out to 1341
Forged pistons
Stage 4 charger rebuild
65mm toothed belt kit
Stage 2 pitstop fast road cam
280 cc redtop injectors
4 branch manifold
De wedged throttle body
Chipped n mapped ecu
Lightened n balenced crank
Theres a few othere little bits but cant remember, have been told ill b looking at about 160ish? Anyone no what G's with similar mods are puttin out?? Thanks

You should see more than 160 bhp with that lot, more like 170+

My old fresh blue G40 got 158 bhp at Aldon with the following:

Stock cylinder capacity
Stock injectors
Stock decatted exhaust system
Stock intercooler
Stock cylinder head
Poloace chip
Dewedged throttle body
GT inlet manifold
Full blend PSD charger
Toothed pullies
Large K&N filter

Some of the 1341 builds seem to perform poorly when compared with just the few bolt on mods i had though. The 1272 units work well with the 40 lader. It wasn't that long ago when Beavo's old black G40 and Jabba's old green one were well into 180+ bhp territory.

some of the earlier cams people put into the g40 lowered there bhp on rolling roads, I remember  a few that had them and was expecting gains, but they didnt come.
not everything you add will increase you bhp.

so many times in the past people put I have this this and this and this will be the bhp out come and it never was.
talking about 2000-2003. chris roebucks car was one. there where others Paul C's but can't remember the others.

I have a newman cam in mine, but mines not been on the rollers in years. i think the mag one posted on here might have been my last.

Well said.

I'm having a rethink about new exhausts too. I was going to get a 2.5" through system, but i reckon that will be too much for a 40 ladered motor and will lose me power. The right cam profile to suit any cylinder head work carried is key, and might be a reason why some of the 1341 cars are not getting higher figures.

I actually broke Chris Roebuck's old blue G40 a few years ago, after Simon Bond had owned it inbetween. I still have the cylinder head from it on my spare engine :) The headwork was port & polished by Jabba and iirc it had a Schrick 268/268 cam in it too.
