Hi people, just wondering what size master cylinder i can put on my g40 with golf mk2 gti rear brakes and uprated pads and discs but 239 size?

cheers  :)

most people use a 22.2mm from a passat or mk2 golf 16v- you need to block up one of the outlets though.

bear in mind that altering the size of the master cylinder changes the behaviour of the brakes.  Bigger isn't always better.  Putting a bigger one on will reduce the pedal travel but you'll actually have to apply more force to the pedal to get the same braking effort as with a smaller cylinder.  The bigger cylinder is better suited to using bigger calipers really, with a bigger slave cylinder area.  If you want to reduce travel then the bigger one is good, just beware of the pros & cons.

What size is the standard cylinder?

PeteG40

i beleive stock is 19mm, golf mk2 is 20mm and late mk2 is 22.2
