Eaton charger gift
« on: April 27, 2008, 01:39:58 pm »
A friend gifted me a eaton charger from a benz slk200 (nice gift). I'm ready to make the first eaton'd G40 in Greece.  Is it m62 or m45? Does anyone has an assembly for it so i rebuild the charger?

Here in Holland are many persons with a G60 or G40 driving with a eaton compressor,
the main thing i hear about it is that you lose Bhp and Nm in compare with the G60 or G40 lader.
The main isseu that the chosen the eaton is the screaming sound,
In the past i would buy a eaton on my G40, after spoken to people with this combination
i have chosen to flow the G40 lader with a wider beld and a 68mm poely and chiptuning
wroten on a dyno and on the road, than you will win the extra Bhp and Nm.

What you do with this information is up to you, everybody's got a different taste and feeling
with it, respect for that!

The eaton is a beutiful peace of engineering, when you want to have it on your engine
please put a better/bigger intercooler on your ride because the eaton is getter a lot hotter
than the standard G40/G60 lader.

But it's a lot of work to fit it on your engine, mostly handmade work,

Where in greece do you live? i'm coming to Rhodos in 4 weeks.
burning in the sun on a beach with a big beer yeaaah

Plus the fact that eaton charger is a maintainance free charger, and there is no problem putting a much smaller pulley

I think you'll find the M45 as fitted to the Mini Cooper S is far more suited to the small capacity circa 1.3 Polo engine. I've never heard of the M62 being fitted to the Polo engine. Whilst it can probably done, I don't think it would be worthwhile.

It is also worth remembering that ideally you'd need to uprate the intercooler and injectors (250cc "greens") when fitting an Eaton as it produces more heat when boosting.
