Front bumper bar?
« on: April 06, 2009, 02:36:20 pm »
You know that piece of metal just below the lights and grill but above the bumper?
Well. Mine isn't strait at all. I thaught it was part of the chassis and you can't replace it with a new one? Can it be removed at all?

Thanks!

it comes as part of the whole headlight panel etc.. but you can remove it by drilling spot welds out.

As Pete says you can drill out the spot welds, but they're pretty big and there's always the problem of re-welding. Gentle angle grinding does the business and if you take a tip out of Haysey's book as I did, you can pop rivet the new panel in place.( they cost about £80) The big bonus is you can take the panel off easily if you are doing anything major such as removing the engine or taking out the charger.

yes mine has been riveted on for a couple of years now. Came in very handy when I replaced the engine the other month, very easy to take it off and put it back on.  The one on mine is just a pattern part though, didn't cost anywhere near £80.
