hi all,

im in the proccess of swaping my gt lump for a g40 one,
it seems to be fairly straight forward but i was just wondering whats
the best way of disconnecting the driveshafts and gear linkage,
do i need to get under the car?
im quite new to this scene and was wondering anyone has any good advice
and tips?

Yes, spline bits to undo driveshafts, gear linkage a simple screw clamp... To get the driveshafts out, you might have to pop out the bottom balljoints and pull the wheels out a bit 1st.

When you get under the car, make sure it is secure in the air.. Wear glasses too to miss the falling oil-spattered mud that falls down, they kill in the eyes....

Take off the exhaust tunnel bracket that would be under where the handrake lever is but from underneath. Split the exhaust from the manifold and where the tunnel is.
Undo the electrics, take out radiator and unplug the coil and earth leads (and ECU Map hose on g lump). Remove the air-hoses and box, fuel pipes (note them).

Lifting is really easy with a hired engine lift crane... It's worth it, I can swap an engine alone in about 2 hrs with one, with little physical pain.. As opposed to strains and bruises; and paint scratches and dents, from trying to get a few mates to do it.

Anything missing?
