Money to spend - help!
« on: February 03, 2009, 01:58:59 pm »
Hi all,

I'm getting itchy feet with my G this week and decided I might spend some of the money I saved into making it faster :) Apologies as I think I've posted something along these lines before when I've been debating what to do.

Got about £700 to play with.  Maybe more if I need to.
Generally the G is in good condition.  I've fitted new clutch, brakes, battery, ermmm full service (plugs, leads, filters etc), exhaust.  There will always be more but it's not about to fall apart!

What would you spend the money on?

I'm getting a bit confused with the stages i.e. what you do first

1. charger rebuild - to whatever stage you decide. Would you just get the best you could afford?
2. Then what do you do with pulleys/belt/chip/anything else?

It's a long time since I had my last G40 and TBH I just used to send it to Pitstop, give them some money and it would come out quicker! oooh so girly ;)

A more direct question - who would people recommend out of G-Werks/Jabba Sport.  I notice Jabbasport have dropped their prices recently.  Or is it pretty irrelevant?

Any after this I'm still unsure whether to keep it standard hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Thanks for any advice in advance :)

Gemma

If it were my money I'd be sending my charger to Darren at G-Werks. If the charger is being serviced anyway you may as well get it ported whilst it is cracked open. Thats the cheap bit really.

porting all depends if you keeping your car boggo standard or want more  power. My red g is boggo standard so just got a standard rebuild. if you wanting more power def pay for the porting while your charger is open

Are the Jabba/G-Werks charger rebuilds the same as each other .. basically?

aargh I'm so indecisive on whether to do this.  I need another G! My one will need a charger re-build soon anyway though.

Read some more on here about them - thank you to all who previously posted info.

Does anyone on here have the Eaton conversion?

I don't really like the fact that I'll be modifying my much loved G40 but looking into all options.

So in one post I have gone from keeping it standard to eaton charger!  Ty all for your patience as I ask lots of questions :)

With 700 squid you're in the ballpark for a standard charger rebuild and a subframe.

If you want an eaton conversion Gemma, you really need a PSD eaton kit but finding a complete one is like Gordon Brown admitting hes a twat! AWT tracksport do/did a kit for the G40 but the mountings for the charger were questionable.

i found a PSD kit luckily so will shortly be handing my car over for the following to be fitted:

PSD modified 5th generation eaton charger & mounting bracket
toothed pulleys
bigger injectors (either 250cc G60 or 310cc items)
custom made boost pipes
51mm throttlebody
AWT tracksport intercooler
1341 bottom end with accralite pistons
oil cooler

Hoping for 200bhp (with the 310cc injectors)
