can i do away with it because im getting a bad boost leak from it. Id rather just have a straight pipe from the bottom of the plastic boost pipe to the underside of the inlet manifold.
Is this possible. Do i really need it?

I was recently watching an episode of The Skid Factory and they were working on an old Holden that had valve that looks just like the one on the G40, they were able to do away with it as they were fitting an electronically controlled throttle body.
It's at about 10:23 in this video:-
