« on: August 23, 2018, 02:13:47 pm »
Can anyone do me the favour of sending me a good photo of the supercharged badge and the sizes.. I'm playing with the 3d printer while we're  (me and dad) are wire-wooling the bonet and roof ready to spray it tomorrow.. If i can do one i can do as many as wanted..
Cool

https://trimsport.bigcartel.com/

100mm = https://trimsport.bigcartel.com/product/trimsport-vw-corrado-golf-g60-rallye-supercharged-badge-100mm

135mm = https://trimsport.bigcartel.com/product/trimsport-vw-golf-corrado-g60-supercharged-rear-badge-135mm

200mm = https://trimsport.bigcartel.com/product/trimsport-vw-golf-corrado-g60-supercharged-rear-badge-blue

Might be worth ordering one of them and copying it? No idea how the whole scan a 2D picture and print it in 3D works?! I haven't got a spare (I've actually got all 3 somewhere but God knows where, ordered them about 8 years ago).

Yahee thanks matey, that's the one...

It's easy enough to stick a proper one on the photocopier for the outline and build it from that, but a photo is even better... It can be made to contour the different colors as heights...  I snapped mine 10 years ago...!

It'll be a white ABS plastic base to start (I've got some red PLA filament but it's too gunky) , although I've got some glow-in-the-dark filament that'd be just as good... Then paint it whatever colour by hand.. I've had a litre of Tornado-Red(r) turn up yesterday so I might try dipping or spraying it with that, or black base-coat or over-the-top etc etc etc…

I'll have a go from that photo that might just be enough..

Cheers m'duck

The model, with "painted" surfaces that I'll have to dip in red, spray black then wet-flat the black off the letters...

I'm gonna run one off when we've sprayed the bonnet hopefully tomorrow.. 3D printing to me means hours of hot fumes while watching a machine that could screw up at any moment, but I can get as stoned as I want doing it..!

I can find ones to buy, but I had one once so I class it as fixing that one, if it does any good..

Hmm, I need a finer extruder but I think I've proved it's possible if not as nice as the original. I'll see what happens when the tornado-red pot gets opened.. I tried to do one full size with the top red but missed out changing the filament. And because I'd drawn it accidentally with the letters object 0.1mm above the base they all fell off! And there's only about 15cm square to print in.!
But an afternoon of fun while it's raining..
