What is this bit?
« on: February 04, 2009, 06:50:47 pm »
Who can tell me what the bit at the back, middle of the engine is by the strut brace but metal coloured and looking very clean?  I'm sure my G40 doesn't look like that and I think it's the bit which makes the cool whooosh sound as you change gear. You would think I would know as the G40 in the picture did belong to me but it was a while ago now.  I'm trying to work out what I did to my old one and brain gone to mush!

Thanks all :)

Hi Gemma,
i think you're talking about the throttle body. thats the part with the pipes going to it and the accelerator cable attatched. the whoosh noise you're talking about is the boost return modification which in that picture doesn't have it. basically you need to block the vacuum pipes and remove the pipe from the throttle body to the charger. ill post you this step by step guide which i found on clubpolo.

cheers Tom

Ah star Tom thank you.

My old G did have that but maybe not in that picture.  I thought it was rather cool but I was young and chavvy in those days lol
