Ignition timing
« on: December 08, 2016, 12:36:10 pm »
Hi Chaps,
I've just ran my engine in on my old chip and g40 injectors. Have now installed new g60 injectors (injectors are good). And new chip from PPP however I can't advance my timing any further due to the distributor hitting the location bolts. It's advance 2 degrees and can't go any further. Any ideas on how to resolve this?
Can't reinstate my old chip as it's damaged - pain in the ass I know!
Thanks in advance
Sam

So others can benefit from this:

Hi Sam,

I can do you another chip (for a fee) - but in all honesty it sounds like another problem, the maps are very well developed and running without issue in many cars (G40 002 and G40 003 are probably our most widely used maps)

The standard distributor has a fairly large range- so if you're unable to achieve base timing, then something is amiss, I would go back to basics with the car, and read the setup guide here:

Is the cam timing correct, and is the correct distributor fitted?

Many Thanks,

Peter
