Schrick camshaft??
« on: April 24, 2016, 09:44:45 pm »
Hi everyone just a quick question regarding camshafts. How can you tell the difference between looking at a standard polo g40 camshaft and a schrick one obviously the lobes and etc but are there any markings, letters and so on to identify a shirck because I don't have a standard camshaft to compare them next to each other!!

Thank you :-)

For what its worth my Piper cam has its number engraved on one end. Original cam will have them too in standard vw oem form....if you have any id numbers on the suspected shrick cam, run them on google. Pretty sure you'll find info..
Aftermarket cams have fat lobes with almost a flat surface at its peak in comparison with standard g40 ones.

The letters "Shrick" are cut into the cam between lobes! That is the most obvious way to tell if its a Shrick. Also at the distributor side there will be a code lazer printed in that tells you what cam it is!

The standard camshaft should have 030 B stamped into it between the lobes usually around cylinder 3.
