Gear Ratios
« on: September 26, 2015, 05:01:22 pm »
Hello guys, I've been running a G40 for some time now and its great, but the gearbox attached isn't the standard ATV one. Its mounted to a CEE gearbox, from what I can gather, this was used on 1.05cc engines along with the AHZ and AYZ, for these two I can find ratios..but not for the ATV.
The car runs great, very fast...but high revving on cruising speeds.
I have a spare ATV box and 3 others that I can choose from. I'm planning on making one combined the best of them all, fast but with a nice cruising speed/rev...
Can someone tell me the ratio for the CEE box?
Thank you so much, i'd like to show the car, but don't know where to create that kind of post!

Have a nice one

I'd just fit an ATV, it's the best for a G40.

Isn't it tall gears? Never drove one with ATV...kinda rare where I live
I love the way mine drives, but like I said...its the 5th on cruising...I do around 100km/h (60mph) on 3krpm
120kmh around 4-45k
What do you think of that?

ATV is best suited to the engine.

If you want the acceleration of short gears then you'll have to live with the high rpm at cruising speeds, there's nothing you can do, fitting a really long 5th gear just doesn't work, you end up with a huge gap between 4th and 5th making the car horrible to drive.

But short gears wont necessarily be faster anyway as you're having to change gears much more often.

Are you talking about the 0.740 5th gear?
The ATV has a 0.851 5th, although a 3.33 diff is also used
No one can find the correct specs of the CEE gearbox? Id like to know what final drive is there and 5th, that way I can build a hybrid box.
I just bought another G40 today, also came with a AYZ attached... guess everybody's switching the ATV for something shorter over here

My gearbox ATV is gone, i have a AHD (3F) and a AYZ (AAU), are 100% compatible?  the AHD is shorter of AYZ, right?
thanks

The AHD is ridiculously short, 5th gear especially. Wouldn't recommend with a G40 or anything with smaller than stock rolling radius (175/60/13). Will physically fit though.
