Fuse 99 OEM Mod.
« on: December 24, 2014, 01:17:05 pm »
A few people have mentioned this mod in a few build threads.
Changing out fuse 19 i think in your polo coupe for a fuse 99.
Apparently they come from mk3 golf gti to then be able to program your wipers?

Could sombody clear this up / worth doing?

Cheers Danny.

are you talking about replacing the relay for the wipers for one with adjustable timing for intermittent wipe?

It's worth it if you want to be able to adjust the speed of your intermittent wipers.  Not something I ever really cared about to be honest.

Yes thats it , just curious how you would adjust the timing or what stage you would do it on?
I found the 3 stages on coupe about right.

It's to allow you to "program" the time gap between intermittent wipes. e.g. a std intermittent wipe time gap between wipes would be 3 seconds (I can't remember exactly, just plucking numbers from thin air here).
So.....
Wipe
3 second wait
Wipe
3 second wait
Wipe
and so on.....

This relay allows you to alter that time gap, again I forget exact timings, the range can be (for example) 1-8 seconds. So you can set that time gap to anywhere in that range. To do this, or "set the gap" you put it onto intermittent wipe, let it wipe until it stops, return the stalk back to the off setting and wait for however long you want the gap, then turn intermittent wipe back on and you should notice the gap is now whatever you set it at.
Set stalk to intermittent wipe
(Wipers wipe)
Set stalk to Off position
wait 1-8 seconds (however long it is)
Set stalk to intermittent position.
gap will now be whatever you set it as.

I think you may be able to do the same with the rear, I forget if that's a separate relay, haven't done this for about 8 years.
