cambelt end crank seal flange paper gasket
« on: January 10, 2009, 06:34:16 pm »
has any one ever bought one of these from GSF?  The part I'm talking about is part number 8 in the attached picture from http://www.vagcat.com.  GSF appear to list this as their part code 11734B but I've just discovered that it's completely wrong when I came to fitting it today.  I also ordered the other end gasket from them and that is OK.

Is this VW only then or does it sound like GSF have given me the wrong thing?  Annoying thing is, it'll be next saturday when I can go there now!

Best thing to do Paul, is get a seal kit set from VAG. You get one of every type of gasket and seal ( have left overs at the end, so they even chuck in every combo!) Also you get one of the crank oil seals in it (5 or 11 on that exploded diagram), which is no longer available individualy from VAG ;)

that'd be awesome if you do robin.

Nick, that would be a good idea but I've already bought and fitted all other gaskets and seals, I don't really want ot have to buy the lot again.

I've prob got a spare you can have. But the best bet is get a complete bottom end set from VAG.

Robin is already sending me that one Dan but thanks for the offer.  Thing is, I've already got all the other gaskets and seals so don't want to buy them all again.

might as well buy the whole set again Paul seeing as you are paying me £1000000000000000000 for this single gasket.

it's ok, I'll get you to send it out and then cancel the cheque before it clears.

oh wait, did I just say that out loud then?
