Went from 10W60 to 10W40, now oilbuzzer problems

Hello there,

I've got a G40 Genesis (I live in The Netherlands). The oil was changed two weeks ago. I was driving on 10W60, but I read all of you guys are driving on 10W40, so I bought a can of 10W40.
After the change the oil buzzer has been going off when the engine is hot. Could this be because the 10W40 is becoming to thin when hot?

In The Netherlands every G40 drives on 10W60, but over here it's al 10W40 Semi. Why do you guys drive on 10W40 if I may ask?

I use semi synthetic 10W40 purely because that is what it recommended from VW, also says this in the VW handbook/manual. I only buy the oil from VW as well.

Hi, your english is much better than a lot of native speakers so no apology needed for that.

What are you ambient temperatures at the moment? I've always run 10/40 as Jezza says its what is recommended and everyone else runs it.

With ambient temperatures you mean the engine temperature or the oil temperature? The engine temperature is just 'normal', but I haven't driven with it a lot, since I hate that buzzer.. I haven't got an oil temperature indicator. I am thinking about buying an oil pressure indicator.

I think sam is asking what you outside air temperature is.

It might be worth getting an oil cooler if you haven't already. This will certainly help keep the oil a lot cooler.

If you can borrow an oil pressure gauge it would help as you might have a pressure problem, oil pump etc?

Ahh, it is around 12-16 Celsius over here. Will drop in a few days to +-10 Celsius.
Yeah i'm going to find a gauge indeed. In The Netherlands we say; Meten is weten. Translated to English: To measure is to know.
