yet another alternator question...
« on: December 17, 2008, 11:38:21 pm »
had the cr on the ramp tonight to put some new exhaust hangers on and had a quick look at the old alternator against the new bosch one i got... oticed on the other side to the pulley the one on the car has  little black connector block with a wire coming out of it and a spade connector which plugs into the alternator...on the new one it doesnt hve this but has two spade connections sticking out..i presume where this little component goes (must have a connector under the black block)...what is it, do i need to transfer it over from the old unit...and why does it not come with a new one?

also..anyone attempted to remove the alternator without removing charger?  we reckon it will come out if you remove the intercooler...

suppression condensers are normally used to stop electrical interference

yep to stop radio interference, I don't have one on my g40 since there's no radio in it.  I'd like to say the reason is weight reduction but in reality I broke the connector for it years ago  ;D

Iirc matey, we only took the I/C off when we changed my alternator. We did slacken the charger off to give us abit more room but didn't remove it.
