suppose this is the right section
im getting some 14 x 6.5j wheels (proper retro looking)
i love the slightly stanced but motorsport look, no wheel arch gap, wheels spaced out to match the arches, track day tyres with a nice tyre wall bulge, see it alot on older jap cars

im going to be getting some stud conversions for my hubs and some sweet jap spec wheel bolts, already got some spacers to space these wheels right out and ive got gaz coilovers to lower it right dow

but im stuck on tyres, i like the track day looking ones with not much printing on the walls (had kumho v70a's and they wernt very asthetically pleasing) anyone know any semi road legal slicks with a nice tyre wall?

also unsure of what size to get for that nice bulged tyre wall. i hate stretch but dont want too much wall or it will look like an off road car
theres not many 14" tyres on the market, so asking if anyone has any decent pics of what they have so i can get some rough ideas

sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this on lol, but i want her looking good and different
cheers peeps!!!

The lower one is the exact tyre size im looking for

Alex

Probably not as bulged as you want, but this is a 195/45 on a 14x6in wheel with Gaz coilovers. It's a starting point, at least.

On a 14x6.5J wheel you probably want 215/40 or 215/45 - if they exist.

Track tyres don't tend to come in profiles that low. Or they don't as far as I've found.

z3i

thanks alex, actually im really glad you posted that as i had 195/45 in my mind, and yeah its not quite as bulged as i would like, let alone on a 6.5 rim
you can get 225/60 r14 but i think that will be a huge bulge
going from this pic im thinking maybe 215/50 r14? maybe?
thanks dude
any other pics like this of other sizes would be greatly appreciated :)

also that wheel arch gap is perfect, you get much scrubbing? my gaz coilies have 250lb springs so im hoping i can go low, unwind the damping have minimal scrubbing and still retain nice handling :)

Alex

No scrubbing, but I'm on 275lb springs at the front if memory serves.

Thats decent!!!

the 50 profile is nice! hmmm, ok maybe 195/50? what tyres are they? the side walls looks nice. i like sams, if it was spaced out inline with the arch rather than tucked, be perfect :)

Alex

That's 195/45 on a 14x6.5

Forgot about that earlier. D'oh!

I reckon you'll need 205 or 215 width tyres to get any sort of bulge on a 14x6.5

z3i

Oh the silver ones!? i was looking at the white ones in the lower pic!

PeteG40

The white ones have khumo track tyres. .. no idea of aize but he might come on 22nd

z3i

Cheers alex! :D
that looks pretty good actually!
either 195/50
or 205/45? slightly wider tyres or slightly larger wall?
found a few sizes

195/55 r14 is size they make

thats a dam good price too!!!

it appears the semi slicks come in stupid sizes like 225/50 r14 and are £550 lol

Alex

That's a chunky old tyre, 195/55. I know it doesn't sound like much of a difference to what I posted earlier but it'll look quite different.

As it happens, these are the same wheels with 195/45s:

More likely to cause you some clearance issues, too.

z3i

ah that looks perfect! i like it :) yeah probably lol
they are 195/45? they look very different yo your wheels with the same size?

samg40

For clarity in my thread the oz's are running 185/50/14 yoko a539's and the white Compo's are running 185/55/14 khumo track rubber. The only time I got scrubbing on these was going through charlies and coppice at speed around Cadwell.

Be aware though if you are going marginal on tyre size the brand can affect it massively. I remember swapping from khumos I think to Toyo T1S years ago on a 195/45/15 and got a lot less scrubbing swapping to the rounder shoulder Toyo tyre.

Falken 195/45 on 14X6 are good, Yokohama AO48 195/60 would suite a 6.5/7.5 but with quite some bulge?
