Noisy top end....NOT!!

Well peeps it looks like the noise i was on about wasent the tappets at all..!

Comeing back down the a1 m to newark the other day and she started making a terrible noise...
Sounds like something as go wrong in the bottom end..a loud ticking tapping noise ..and a metal to metal noise...

Im thinking bottom end bearings maybe...

But she still drives..? I had to drive it off the a1 down the hard shoulder for about 2 miles steady as she goes...mind.
The noise seams to go when in a high gear.
Looks like a full strip down anyway.

Sounds like you could've spun a bearing.

Checked your alternator is tight and mounted well?

Mine sounded like a bag of hammers when it came loose vibrating, just a stupid check really but worth a look.

if its got toothies make sure there's no teeth missing on the belts!

Ill have a look at the altinator tomorrow but i sure its not that...thanks mat.

And ye ive got toothies but havent put them on yet.
