air vent in bonnet ?
« on: December 06, 2008, 04:31:41 pm »
i have my filter mounted like this . .(picture 1)

i recon a slot cut into the bonnet (picture 2) would aid in effectivly scooping cold air into the space where the air filter is located

can anybody think of the bad side to this (besides how gash it would look  :P)

although not very practical for daily use quite a few people remove their drivers head light.  i suppose if you didnt use the car at night you could modify a head light by maybe removing the glass, taking out the bulb and using the inner frame as an air guide or remove light completly but you could make it look good i suppose by using a headlight frame rather than a gaping hole...if you use it at night then certainly not practical...

You're right Tom, it would look gash!  ;D
Another reason is it would be liable to water ingress, not what you really want.
Oh and also it'd look gash!!! :P

I have seen that a lot of people with mk3 Polos tend to use the charcoal canister hole (bin the canister, its fucking heavy and pointless anyway) on the inner wing to bring a cold air feed up from behind the bumper. It looks like your current filter is quite well sealed from picking up too much heat already so it just needs the cold feed sorting and you'll be laughing.

Could always remove one of the fog lights and run a pipe to your filter from there?

That G40 with bonnet scoop was sat on his mates drive for 4 years then its been sat on his drive for last 3 years and aint even been started. He owned it for many a year before passing his test and has a works van but still aint done owt to it.
The scroll in the charger is probably white & furry with mold.
I called to see him but he wasn`t in but gonna call again.
