G40 Atv gearbox wont go into first

Hi folks, removed the linkage from the box and used the selector that comes out of the gearbox, it goes into all gears but when trying to go into first it just wont go, ive tryed turning it iver to see if it was out of line, clutch in running car and trying but still wont go. Has anybody experienced this problem themselves ? If so help would be greatly appreciated ! I have a 4 speed cl gearbox kicking around maybe parts from this may work ? Could it be a worn selector ? Thanks

unfortunatly if its definantly not the linkage the only way to find out what it is is to pull the box out and split it might be an easy fix might be easier to just buy a second hand box.

This was my thought, ill split it and see what i can see but as you say a second hand box could be alot easier and maybe cheaper. Do you know are there any other gearboxs with the same ratios as the ATV ? Thanks

none are exactly the same although an 8p is the closest youre going to get

I may get an 8p as a temporary in that case and get the ATV sorted properly, thanks for your help much appreciated mate ! :-)
