Finding previous owners

Bought my car from a trader and its a complete dog, have done loads of work to get it right
ive noticed a few things on the car that have been uprated (like the camshaft) i have no idea of what it is and would like to find out more about the car. anyone know how to?

the reg is J230 MEC and its capri green anyone on here owned this fine example?

the previous owner was "steven cathie" anyone on here?

You can contact the DVLA for previous owner details, however I believe it is at their discretion.

They wouldn't give them too me. something to do with identity protection :/ oh well thanks anyway

Aside from Googling the registration, I'm don't think there's a lot that can be done.

the DVLA shouldn't be giving that out to anyone but the police as far as I'm aware.

Providing you have 'reasonable cause' then joe public may be granted details:

Examples of reasonable causes for obtaining the information:

    - To trace the keeper of an abandoned vehicle or vehicle involved in a minor accident (for example, if a car has been driven into and damaged another vehicle, then been driven away).
    - To trace the keeper of a vehicle which has been driven away from a petrol station without paying for fuel, or which has been driven without payment of a toll bridge or tunnel.
    - To trace the keepers of vehicles that have been parked on private land without paying the parking charges.
    - To investigate suspected insurance fraud.

Doesn't help you to find previous owners though.

Indeed it doesnt, finding the previous owner would definitly be more important than any of those thing haha. searched the reg on google and didnt come up with anything. and i cant find anything on here. the only thing a found is one of the guys on club polo saw it for sale on ebay about 6 months ago. but doesnt remember anything on the add. which would have been helpfull :/
would definitely be beneficial as i know whats been tampered with and what needs sorting etc

No service history at all on the v5 its got the owner before the trader that sold it to me. but all hes kept receipts for is gsf brake discs. its the owner before him im believing did the charger, cam etc
