Decent Roads In The Southampton Area?

Does anyone know if there are any decent roads in the Southampton area for a drive? I've been living here for 2 1/2 years and have found very little in the way of decent roads without having to go 45 mins - 1 hour in any direction. The M3/A34 junction to Loomie's biker cafe is good for a run, but apart from that, there's very little in the way of NSL A & B roads.

Anyone know of anything else?

Get out on the New Forest. Some great roads over here.
Limit is usually 40 so no NSL but as long as you avoid the horses you'll be fine!

Easiest way to find them is pick a pub, drive to it, then onto the next.
Boldre, Beaulieu, Brockenhurst all have a some good ones around.
Even the roads down to Lepe beach, Exbury and around Calshot can be good.

Where in Southampton are you?
Problem is if you're central Southampton you have to go at least 30mins before you hit any countryside.

Biggest problem is getting caught behind slow cars.

My G40 is in bits but should be coming together this year!

I've lived around here 32 years and counting.
Theres a fair few of us around these parts.

When the weather warms up we'll have to get something arranged at Loomies or somewhere

The 40 limit is what put me off the New Forest... I'll check out some of the route suggestions  ;D

Meeting up for a blast sounds like a plan - I'm in Chandlers Ford and I've got a Mk2 with a G40 conversion. I'll give you a shout in a few months when the road salt has cleaered up and it's got a bit warmer...

I've seen one G40 a few months ago at Eastleigh Asda. It was red and looked pretty standard.

@z3i - have you still got your bike? I don't know that many people around here who ride...

Nah mines capri green and standard, ive seen a white mk2 parked near i think its hiltingbury road in chandlers ford. im around chandlers ford nearly everyday as my girlfriend lives there, we must have passed at some point lol

May have seen my golf driving round before i sold and bought the G?

I dont ride at the moment :( did have a Dorsoduro

but had to sell as it wasnt practical and i cant afford a car and motorbike on apprentice wages, will get another one in the future though :) oh really? i know loads of people who ride around here :D

I think I may have seen the white Mk2 on Hiltingbury road... Not mine though, mine's Jade green:

And my bike:

The Aprillia looks like a hooligan  ;D I may have seen the Golf around at some point though. It looks quite tidy. The G or the bike probably won't be out for for a couple of months until they stop gritting the roads...

Yes!! your mk2 looks lush! i havnt seen it around though :(
Yeah, it was a vtwin, and the low down torque always resulted in the front end pointing skywards..... always...
my only transport is the G, so i have to drive on these lovely salty roads, eating away at my already rusty arches :( makes me sad
