Basically I had been rebuilding and adding new parts to my G I'm getting close to finishing (will post a build thread once I'm finished)

But I have a bit of spare cash left over and I can't decide weather to get an oil cooler or toothies??

What do you think, I know they do very different things but which would you choose??

Alexiskayak_7

Oil cooler from me. It's worth every single penny..
Since then no more oil high temps, no more oil buzzer and i can run more time on boost without worrying about oil temp and pressure

yeah same for me. I have never regretted getting one. Just make sure you get the one with the thermostat built in to the sandwich plate. Also kept my water temp down from 90 to just over 80.

Thanks for you advice lads,  had a look at a few the cheapest one I has found as a complete kit was on bar-tek-tuning for 220.

Where did you get yours from an how much was it?

Cheers

I got a mocal 13 row one for around £100. Wasn't new but had onlt done 2k miles.

£220 seems a lot though. Have you tried mocal themselves?

Mines all bits ive brought as it was the cheaper way to do it. Piping cost around £20, cooler cost £22.50 (meant for a classic MG but the right size) and the sandwich plate i already had.

sod paying £220 quid, buy a generic core, size depending on where you want to fit it.  Get a thermostatic sandwich plate, measure how long you want the pipes, find a local hydraulic pipes place (yellow pages still comes in useful for this kind of stuff) and get them to swage up some oil lines then make a bit of bracketry to mount it using some bits and pieces of metal.

Then put the £75-£100 quid you'll save in your toothed belt fund.

Personally I'd go for toothies anyway unless you're having issues with overheating.

Thanks for the advice gents,

Where did you all get your coolers from though??
Also do you know what size sandwich that fits the G40 as there are a few??

Cheers

I forgot all about rally design. Give them a call telling them what you want and im sure they can get it for you. Just remember to ask specifically for a thermostat built in.
