Accelerator cable - different ones?

My cables kaput so grabbed one off ebay to replace it until I strip the engine and replace all the bits with new stuff.

Anyhoo, went to swap it over and the new cable was way too short even though I was told it was removed from a g40. The replacement doesnt have the metal rod on the pedal end so is this for a lesser model?

was does it have on the pedal end?

mk3 cables are all the same as far as im aware mate, prob an ebay special that just doesnt fit!

Theres a metal rod/bar. Was an auction not a BIN. Someone owes me a refund!
