bent valves

striped my head down today from a while ago when i snapped my camshaft i have bent 4 inlet and 2 exhaust think the guides are ok tho.

rang vw valves are 15 pound each but there on back order so if i order them he said it could take a week or a year smart eh......... :scyth:

well £15 each is cheaper than I thought they'd be at least!  A year though!

Try ringing round a local engine builders they should be able to source the parts from the manufacturer.  Check out yellow pages for companies.  where about's are you?

Otherwise source a replacement head 2nd hand.  The inlet valves you can use from any 1272cc mk3 polo by the way.  to be honest, you'll probably be OK with the exhaust valves too, although it depends on engine spec.  The only difference in the g40 exhaust valves is that they are sodium filled to be able to dissipate heat better.  I believe most (if not all) the big valve heads don't bother with sodium filled valves, although I can't be 100% certain on that.

yea cheers mate my spec is fair high so could do with the right exhaust valves.

i thought 15 was cheap too i was happy untill he said about them being on back order.
the place that skim heads and things tried to get some for me too and cant get hold of them!
i live in cumbria so not that much round here i tried GSF and euro car parts and they dont stock them so ill get as you say 1272 inlets and keep hunting for exhaust only need 2!

i have 4 from a low mile head i had big valved. Was gonna save em for a rainy day though ideally... are you desperate?
