Good progress, Paul. Seems to be going forward quicker than mine. Still waiting on bits to be done in the machine shop, lazy buggers lol.

Suprised you didnt have a wee bit skimmed off the deck of the block.

you said you had made a new timing mark could you tell me if the original timing mark is much out compared to the one you made with the dial gauge?

hayesey

yeah it was probably something like 7mm.  But this is with a non-g40 bottom pulley and a g40 timing pointer bent up in a step shape to allow the pulley to fit.

ok cheers i was just wonderin if the stock timing mark was far out or spot on the money.

now all working:

and this is the water supply adaptor I made from a piece of exhaust and a part of the original solid water pipe from one of my k03 turbos:

Went out for a drive in the car today and once I'd put some fuel in it (was running on fumes and misfiring before, gauge showed 1/4 of a tank....) it ran pretty well considering the ignition timing is guessed, the idle isn't set and it needs remapping.  Pretty chuffed really.  Only running about six psi boost at the moment too, don't want to go higher till I get it remapped.

fitted some vw motorsport wheel studs last night:

makes swapping wheels about much easier, especially since spacers are involved.
