Need a drive shaft. Short passenger side one are they all the same spec/length standard polo,gt,g40 ones ???

Yup, short side is the same on all. I believe it's also unaffected by early/late gearbox flanges.

i beleive they have a different part number - but noone really knows why!

Cheers guys :) what's the difference if any on the long one aswell mines gt on I think, are the g40 ones better or is it just lengths depending on late/early gearboxes ??
Oh and by the way this wasn't a wanted advert I've already got one of them in wanted, just was stating that I need to get a new one n wanted to know of there was any differences before I got one. Sorry for any confusion

I suspect it's built harder better faster stronger to take the extra power

Its the CV joints that are G40 specific. If you buy a complete driveshaft you get a different part number.
