is there any where apart from vw who can supply the lower arms for the g40?

Yoof

We're currently testing our adjustable rose-jointed versions, which should only be a few quid more than stock G40 ones but with the added bonus of having camber adjustment.

Other than VW no one does them, G-Lader site have an eccentric bush version, but I'm not sure how much camber can be achieved, and they're over £200.

JIMMYP

what is the eta on those arms?

dub-disaster

Yea I'd happily buy a set n test them out as I need some new arms n dnt fancy buying vw ones if yours are only a few quid more n give adjustment to cambre.

Andy

We won't be selling any until we've satisfied ourselves that they're good to go. That means getting some test miles on them which'll take a bit of time. At a guess, early autumn.

dub-disaster

Fair snuff andy I'll just have to get some standard ones.

Yoof

Ant- Thank you for the offer, as Andy says we can't until we've tested them properly. Generaly our attack with subframes was one on a track car (ex G40 Cup Car) and one on a road car.

There's 3 sets awaiting fitting to our 'test vehicles' and then we can go have some fun  ;)

When I went into VW last week, he also mentioned they're now asking for L-reg and younger registrations only for certain parts inc. TCAs.

dub-disaster

What do you mean by There Sking for l reg and younger only for tca's. They won't take anything older than l reg for exchange tca's or they only supply parts for l reg and younger for parts like tca's ?
Gd to see your products are tested. keep us posted when yor done testing them

hayesey

eh? does that mean they'll refuse to sell you certain parts for your g40 if it's older than l-reg?  That's absolutely mental if true.  I can see a hell of a lot of parts being ordered for the few l-reg g40s that exist then ;)

PeteG40

i've found approach in vw differs dealer to dealer.  If in doubt - ring hayselden vw in barnsley and ask for john - he also pedals g60 steels etc on ebay from their branch.
He doesn't care - if its a part number and not obsolete he'll get it for you (a few guys on edition 38 have got us spec stuff through him)

seems daft that L reg comment/rule.

Nick_S

It does seem daft, but I was told a few years ago by VAGparts that I needed a G40 chassis number to order steering arms when there were only a few left. They do it to try and preserve stock.

scotsjohn

Ditto for me; G parts for genuine G's. Supposedly to stop people buying up stock for resale when VW's stocks are gone. If that's genuine then it's a problem for anyone running a conversion.

Yoof

As an OEM you're only required to provide spare parts for 15years, unless you go into liquidation (ala TVR) hence the L-Reg (1995) rule.
