Tyre pressures

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on this. I've got 175/50/14's on some 6x14 wheels. What tyre pressures should I be running on them? Surely it will be different than the standard quoted pressures?

just standard pressure dude.  i usually put ablout 28psi into mine

What are the basic rules for adjusting pressures to suit different situations? Road, track, long journey, snow etc?

I know for 50's F1 heroes this was the only means of adjusting the set up so there must be an art to it!
