Anything else recomended? (Max power from a G-lader)
« on: December 04, 2009, 09:22:55 pm »
Hi,

I have currently been collecting up all the parts required to give my G40 a fairly decent boost in power figures. Currently running just a little over standard power.

The list is as follows:

-Jabba R1 Charger
-PSD Toothed belt kit
-PPP Manifold
-PPP Exhaust system
-Schrick 252/276 Camshaft
-Vernier pulley
-GT inlet mani
-Front mount intercooler
-51 mm TB
-Jabba induction kit
-250cc green injectors
-Oil cooler
-Sandwich plate
-PPP Chip to suit all of the above

I have no idea what sort of power i'm aiming for, or what the above would give?

I have most of the parts now so am coming towards the end of my "part collecting" phase. However before i stop collecting parts and begin to fit everything, does anyone recomend anything else? Have i missed anything?

Any items i'd need to purchase before fitting the upgrades to avoid engine components blowing up, wearing down, not working etc...

Please note that i know chassis upgrades will be required and shall be purchased soon before the car is running the above upgrades ;)

Thanks

Leon

new tappets for the cam and cam shaft oil seal

obviously various boost pipes

also to give you a little bit more power water injection might be useful

Will be purchased along with chassis upgrades such as subframe etc...

Pete, water injection such as aquamist? Rather costy :(

Silicon pipes and tappets/cam shaft oil seal shall also be purchased

I'd imagine you'd see something just short of 170bhp with that spec.  I think the standard head will be restricting you at that point.  A ported, big valve head would be a good investment but they're not cheap as I'm sure you know.

It'll still make good power so prob worth just going for it with the bits you have now.  Before a BVH, a decent remap would be worthwhile.

A bvh won't use the same cam i've just bought though...right? Or am i wrong?

Also i know its not cheap, but what sort of price would it be roughly? Never really looked into it

you can still use the same cam.  It'll cost about £500 but the more I think about it the more I think you'd be better off using that money for a custom remap, unless you can afford both.

Hmm,

Think for now i'll just focus on getting the car built up with my current parts and in the future shall look into BVH and custom map :)

Has the car got new fuel pumps and a Lambda probe? You don't really want to be running the original fuel pumps as they will be getting tired by now.
I would stick with your clutch until it dies. I had a G running 170BHP on a standard clutch no worries.
If it aint broke dont fix it.

Good luck.

Got new lambda probe which shall be going on with the PPP system. Shall look into the fuel pump and see when it was last changed

Cheers :)
