Im looking at changing my boost pipes and was wondering where i can get hold of the metal (aluminimum) pipes? Just wondering so when i get a new intercooler i can get them on order once its on and all measured up.

Also on the return pipe from the throttle body, before it goes through the rocker cover, the pipe that is connected to the bottom (crankcase breather?) how do i go about changing that when i get rid if the return pipe?

you can buy bends and that off ebay, and once you do the boost return just put the crackcase breather into an oil catch tank but make sure you use fat pipe for it!

What do you mean by fat pipe?

Also for the catch tank, could someone expalin me the purpose of them? Jusy a few mates have told me different things but i want to know what it does on a G40.

What type would be a better one to get? I was looking between these 2; http://www.sm-engineering.co.uk/alloy_catch_tank.php
Single or double?

the inlets are too narrow on these, the breather is 1" - these are about 1/2"

Ok cheers. Do you know of anywhere i can find one that will be the correct size?

Pete could you explain purpose of having a oil catch tank on a G40. And what uses they have.

PeteG40

using a catch tank means you dont have oil vapour and scum recirculating.  Which means a cleaner burn, less shit in your charger - perhaps a little more power.

It also means your charger doesn't get warm air in it - just cold

However it means you need to lube you charger manually - with ptfe spray

additionally it means you can get rid of the restrictive one-way valve on top of the oil breather which can cause pressure build up in the crank case.  Also crusty oil & water vapour aren't being mixed into the fuel charge into the engine and reducing it's potency.

Well i will be looking for one where the breather pipe will fit onto.

Is there many people that have done this?

If so could you post some pictures and desrcibe how you installed it all.

I never found an off the shelf catch tank with a 1" pipe connector on it.  I got a friend of a friend who is handy with a TIG torch to weld one to an alu catch tank I already had.

Ok that sounds like more than likely what i will have to do. Cheers.
