g40 head gasket

I'm sure Beavis had the 1341 builds at 8.5:1 with a standard gasket.

I dont see how he could have achieve 8.5:1f the accralites raised the comp ratio to 9.0:0. I'll post up the compression ratio of my accralite build in a couple of weeks once ive done some volume measurements! im pretty certain it will come out around a 10.0:1 with the metal HG.

i ran my 1341 with a metal gasket and around 1.3 bar of boost and it was fine.
this time i am gonna go standard gasket see how it goes with running over 20psi.

accralites dont raise the compression to 9:1 do they?  I thought it was less than that.

Accralites are 9:1, JE do an 8.5:1 and Wossner an 8:1.

Yeah det will become a problem...!

A standard gasket is 1.5mm thick.
A mk4 metalversion is 0.4mm thick.

= 1.1mm difrerence.

If using the 1341cc 77mm Accralites the compression ratio will raise from 9.0:1 up to very nearly 10.0:1 by my calculations!

If you take into account the fact that the head has probably been skimmed at some point in its life then the CR could well be over 10.0:1. Not ideal to say the least.

I'm sorry to step in but it's just to correct the info about the standard G40 HG thickness...it's not 1,5mm but 1,7mm. It was stamped on my engine's HG with VAG part number (MAde by Victor Reinz) when I removed it. Also easy to check on any Victor Reinz or Elring catalogue.

Strange!? The standard gasket i got was 1.5mm for definate. I measured myself, and checked it a minute ago... is definately the correct py gasket you have?

Sorry I was wrong...it's 1,75mm. Just checked on Victor Reinz Web catalogue.
