Supercharger rebuild, cant get the tictac shaped bit off!
« on: March 13, 2009, 10:17:29 pm »

I'm doing a rebuild on my spare charger and this bit is stuck in there, I've tried mulgrips on it with a hairdryer to see if that helped but no luck.

any ideas?

It's a woodruff key. It should come out, they are sometime fairly tight. Soak it in the best penetrating fluid you can get your hands on for a bit. If you can get hold of a shaft or punch non-metallic or soft faced to strike it with that won't mar the surface whilst holding the charger casing firmly to avoid damage that should do it. Do it on an angle so it's trying to knock the key away from the shaft.

knew it had a name, but couldnt think of it! yea ill try soaking it with something to try and loosen it up. Its stuck in there good and proper and i dont really fancy damaging it as its in good condition for doing 152k.
