Evening chaps,

So, kinda keen to know what my g is putting out. Anyone know a decent spot that charges a fair price. Or should I hit the local spot up?

Also will I damage my g by running a standard chip on a 65mm pulley?

If it's not running correct map for 65mm pulley it'll run lean (too much air not enough fuel)...what's the worse that could happen?  You'll melt the miston inside your engine and find yourself needing a new engine.

Unless you drive it off boost until your chip arrives?
Worst case scenario if you need the car

Nothing is gonna happen mate. Fuel map is way to rich and ignition timing is way too retarded.

z3i

What makes you say that?
why would it be too rich? It wouldnt be too rich
and as for timing the g40 runs on the very limit of pinking, hence why it has a knock sensor
if you read the article on the forum at the front page it says so
so yes if you run under hard loads with a smaller pulley and no map too suit you *could* potentially melt a piston
however if you drive half throttle and under it wont be running on any boost and make no difference

I can't believe that a proper g40 with a good condition fuel system (pump, lines, injectors) could melt a piston. If i remember with stock chip at wot, afr drops at 11.2 (quite rich).
At the last month i was experimenting mapping my g40. I run 95oct fuel. I leaned at wot the afr to 11.5 and gave +5-6 degrees of timing and still nothing- no pinking.
Also, at higher loads (more than 0.7bar till 1) everything is safe

Ok mate, see were your coming from
but g40's arnt sound these days, they are over 20 years old all been fiddled with and high mileage
in my personal opinion i wouldnt risk it

plus there are people on here who have melted pistons running g-laders. Jezza melted his after getting his charger ported

From a search on the forum it would appear from years past that a rolling road session has been organised on here and included a few beverages.

Would there be interest to have another one this year? Sep/Oct time?

samg40

As it happens it was something we were discussing the other week as to having a CG40 RR sometime in Sep/Oct. If there is enough interest we'd be happy to sort one out. Last time we tried we were struggling for numbers however.

z3i

Id be well up for it :) though im sure ill be dissapointed with my rr figures before a remap :(

Jester

I'd be up for this too, nice little get together, I'm going to get a fresh RR anyway in the near future.

vee-dub90

Id be up for it, but my car wont be on the road for ages sadly
