Hello people, I'm looking for a little advice. I have as the subject tittle suggets an ATV gear box and a brand new Quaife LSD so I was wondering the best place to have the diff built into the box. I'm guessing quite a few of you on here have already made this decision so just want to know where you went, how much it cost and if you were happy with the job. I just don't want to get a bad deal. I live in Birmingham so the closer the better but I'll travel if need be. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Joe.

There's a group buy going on for Quaifes at the mo. I was thinking I'll take mine to JP race in Silverstone as I've only heard good things about them.

I don't know whether they'd be interested in a doing a batch of gearboxes to get the price down perhaps?

I've heard a few bad things about JP Race too.  Andy certainly wasnt happy with his when it started rattling soon after a rebuild.

I'd speak to a couple of local garages and ask them who they use for gearbox rebuilds, there's usually a local company specialising in such things that the garages in the area will use.  Find out who this is and take it there.  There's nothing special about a g40 gearbox, it's a pretty simple unit.  Any competent gearbox builder can do it.

If you are in the Manchester area then go to Tameside Transmissions, I know my mate's garage sends work their way and has never had a problem with them.

Or you can do it yourself which is what I've done (and a couple of others off here too).  If you look in the FAQ sections there are a couple of threads on diff fitting and diff bearings.

I used JP race , yes i have heard a couple of stories that are bad reviews .

but My box is perfect, not to say that all the work is the exact same.

You are making a wise choice fitting an LSD
