slimline fans - what are decent makes and two smaller fans or one larger??

Im going to be fitting a slimlone fan just wondered who makes the best ones? I was thinking of running two 8" fans and when the first stage of cooling is reached from the original two speed fan then one 8" could come in then when it starts to get realynl hot or i flick my overide switch both fans come on. Does that sound ok or should i just stick to a single 12" fan ?
