Just seen it in pvw and wundered if anyone ran it as they say its good for f/I cars any pros or cons and how does it work

A few people run it on here.

I was going to run it on mine but my g40 gets used a little more than intended as a daily so i didnt bother. If your 100 mile away from your house and you run out of the meth mix then you cant drive on boost at all otherwise you might destroy your engine.

If you use it as a daily i cant see the point, but a weekend/track day car i would most certainly go for it.

It works in one way, squirting a 50/50 mix of methanol and water into the inlet side of things using a high pressure pump, a tank, piping, injector/s and a boost switch for when the injector will work, depending on kit it wil normally be 2-10psi or 6-30psi, advantage: reducing inlet temperatures and preventing pre det and can save fuel, disadvantage: if you run out your screwed and gotta remember to keep topping it up, would need to check prices of methanol too, but how it gets squirted is a good one to know. There are, for supercharged, 4 ways i know of that you can do it, 5 for turbo.

Just after the intercooler
Halfway along the boost pipe from the rad cover
Into the throttle body
and direct injection

For turbo you can inject it into the turbo housing

Direct injection is very expensive but the best way to do it. You get an injector on each inlet so the mix is even, whereas if it was done after the intercooler it might not mix correctly and you can get uneven distribution. Most people tend to do it into the throttle body.

With the other ways of injection some people also do a multi style injector with a single feed going to a divider so that the mix can be injected, say after intercooler and the boost pipe to get a better atomisation.

That's the kit that I saw in the mag. Where to get refills and stuff? Am gunna build a decent spec gee and wanted to cover al basis. The car gets driven hard when the roads let me an is a daily through the week

It can prevent pre-det but IMO there are better ways to cool the charge and prevent pre-det such as good cam and ignition timing, decent intrercooling, correct turbo matching to keep it in its efficient working zone. water/meth for me would be, for me, a last resort once all other avenues had been explored. You must beware that a poor system may loose you power.

There are other problems other than those mentioned above. First off, meth and water mix with wash the bores, thus reducing the lubricating action of the oil. This may speed wear. Also, methanol is corrosive to steel and aluminium engine components whilst tap water can cause mineral build ups in components and block injectors. But as said, you run out of meth, you're going to have to crawl home

However, having never used it, I cant speak from experience. But then I'd not use it for the reasons above
