What are the benifits for fitting an oil cooler?   does the g realy need it?  im wondering as i fitted one too my bug and it helped but that had no stack cooler in it.       also anyone know a good kit to fit?  i see them advertised but not sure on the quality

the cooler on mine is made by Setrab.  Mocal are pretty good too.  I'd say rather than buying a "kit", just get a suitably sized heat exchanger and make your own brackets to fit it whereever you want or can fit it.  Then go to a local hydraulic pipe place (check yellow pages or whatever) and ask them to make up pipes to suit, shouldn't cost much more than £20 really.

It's definitely a worthwhile mod, oil temps can get sky high when ragging and since the charger is lubricated by the engine oil too (from the factory anyway, youi can fit a stand-alone supply) really high oil temps don't do that any good.
