i have a problem at cruising speed in any gear just hovering on the throttle. It cuts out and then cuts in again straight away sending a jolt through the car. It boosts fine when i put my foot down and has all new parts on the car. Has anyone had this problem before or know what it might be. Thanks.

The idle switch cutting in and out. Could check it cows off as soon as the throttle starts to open.  Do you have a bored out throttle body with no wedges? Will probably have to live with it

liam

its not bored out but the wedges have been taken out.
ive only just had the wedges taken out and it was happening before that. So it cant be that

well check that the idle switch is operating as soon as the throttle starts to open.  If not then I think you can slightly bend part of the mechanism that operates the switch so it moves earlier.

liam

ok thanks for that i' ll have a check today,

the car has been down to steve walford motorsport for a couple of days now and they cant find out why its jolting on light throttle.
They said it might
need mapping and I mentioned to them that i was sure it started happening when i had the piper fast road cam was fitted so they reckon its to do with the mapping but its got a polo performance parts stage 5 chip in with all the required mods.

could this be the cause
of my problem?

I have an unmodified engine that developed almost identical problem around 6 months ago, tried almost everything electrical with exeption of ecu still same now starting on fuel system. let me know how you go on would love to crack this one.

Liam- I sent you a PM regarding mapping etc.

Have you managed to check the idle switch yet? You will get a jerk when coming off idle as the map changes- more profound with larger injectors.

Cheers

well today i found that injector number 4 is hissing if you press it in it stops but then starts hissing again, im hoping this is my problem.

i would really like to leave this to the professionals now so if pete and andy dont mind and have the time i would like to leave the car with them and have it properly checked over when it goes down to be mapped,

the place where i took it last time to have the idle switch looked at and have a power run are very well recommended but i dont think they know enough about g40s to sort it out.
