I was in my local VW asking this the other day. one was a m8 x 111 iirc and you need a m10 x 120. £1.88 each

sweet thanks for that Jon. is there any spacer/washer things or anything else needed to position the alternator? or is it just a bolt? i only say this because ive lost every thing from that bolt.
Cheers Luke

I pikeyed mine until i could get a spacer made up. A suitable length of pipe will do it.

apparantly a 15mm socket and a rubber bung will do the trick so a certain build thread told me  ;)
hopfully i can get the size of the spacer and get one made up at a local engineering firm near me.
cheers for the help.

the same thing happened to me, for the spacer i went to my local cylinder head workshop and got a 8mm (iirc) valve guide, just said to the guy it needed to be at least X long (cant remember the length) he gave me one for nothing, i cut it to length, job done.
