Hi all, got the g engine running in the mk1 golf, it's had the pitstop 1341 with 421 exhaust, all the tricks that people normally do to the g40 engine, and it runs and drives, I haven't had it out of 2nd gear yet but it feels like as you accelerate, power dies at about 2500 and comes back hard at 3500 but it smells rich, the wiring is essentially there, with all relevant ecu wires are connected, good earths everywhere, are there any obvious issues I should consider?

cheers, will.

The only thing that can harm, when the car is rich is the catalist and your pocket...
Do you have a wideband and you saw that is running rich? Or you smelled unburned fuel (noseband :P)
-What injectors you use?
-Have you re-mapped it?

g40willa

yes, by noseband haha, i like that. there's no cat on the exhaust, i've only run it for about half an hour since i put the engine in. the fuel in the tank was old so i put 5 litres of super unleaded through, so it may need to run the 1 year old fuel out first. teething problems!!

sorted, the lambda wasn't earthed properly. now it goes HARD!

think mine is possibly running rich too, well my plughs are black and ther nearly new, how did you find your earthing problem or was it just visualy not right lol

cheers boyzey

it's because I put the engine into a mk1 golf I had to completely re- earth it, I have one from the lambda that earths to the inlet manif, there are 2 others on the inlet manif. but what they are I'm not sure at the mo, then I earthed the inlet manif. to the body of the car, one earth goes from the battery to the body to the gearbox, I have earthed the alternator to the head, steering column to the body. I just put as many earths as possible as I've had problems that relate to earths before, just earth everything!! another important one is that the coil earth is strong and clean.

orite cheers mate worth having a look for nothing ey haha
