Hi, welcome to the forum.

so is there still no spark?  Are the spark plug, ht leads, rotor arm and dizzy cap all ok?  The coil you've put on, is it a new one and/or have you tried it on another polo to see if it definitely works?

When you try to start do you hear the fuel pump at the back prime (make a short whirr)?

could be the hall sender in the dizzy or an ecu relay (they both have a habit of giving an intermittant fault)

does it crank and turn over??? or just do nothing when you try to start it?

I removed the main lead from the coil and earth it to the engine and got no spark, so I thin the dizzy is ok, the vehicle will crack over and I use a new coil to check.
I have not checked the fuel pump yet but I will do
the ECU relay what colour is it and is it next to the ECU?
Thanks for responding so quickly

PeteG40

its one of the two relays next to the ecu

PeteG40

it sounds like a poor ground or poor coil to be honest

kty50n

thanks for the help.  it was the dizzy
