Alright peeps.

Got a quick question as im in the process of putting the engine back together.
I remember years ago people (including myself) used to remove the oil breather dome from the rear of the block and gut out all the mesh inside it to alow it to breather easier and not get clogged up with all the oily gunk over time.
Now is this still thought of as a good idea. I seem to remember cutting the opening inside it bigger and yanking the mesh cover out and replacing it and running the piping to my catch tank.
Just need to confirm exactly what needs removed before I bastardise my brand new breather dome

If it's a new one, I'd leave it alone. Can't see any benefit of removing it.

Old ones with gummed up oil and sludge would need soaking in de-greaser and blasting out.

Coolio, cheers for that. Just remembered years back that people gutted the internals out to help stop the gunking up of old oil vapor, supose regular oil changes should be the way of preventing that anyway.
