I'm looking for an exhaust manifold coating that won't burn off within 5 mins of running the engine. It's asking a lot, I know ! Does anyone have any positive experience with products out there ?

I was going to have it ceramic coated by zircotec, in one of there performance colours. They initially quoted me a reasonable price, but since then the prices have shot up and it would be over 200 with the vat, plus return delivery. It was getting a bit silly, price wise.

Anyone have any ideas ?

Alex

I may be selling my Zircotec manifold soon, for a stainless one. Dunno if that'd interest you? Never been fitted, just not got around to it.

Do you really feel you need the manifiold coated? It will only induce a shorter life span for your cylinder head! Some experts have done big studies into the effects of this. Search google to see what you can find.

Dan

Are you sure it would retain so much head in the cylinder head that it would distort it or damage it ? If someone can say yes it would, then I would avoid it. Otherwise I'm basically looking for a coating for the manifold to stop it going brown, oxidised and flaky.

depends on the coating and its ability to retain heat i suppose. try and find some info on it on the net. it is normally big motorsport teams that do heat coating as its all about the performance of the car and not about how long the engines go on for as long as they reach each rebuild/strip down plus up untill recently alot of these teams had money to burn  ;D

let say like this...if had bad quality inlet manifold it can burn cos oh heat but if it's good, nothing can happen.

advantages - less heat under the hood so more cold air in y. engine
                 - faster flowing of gas in down pipe nd rest of exauts

disadvantages - it can burn your manifold... but if made of stainlles steal mark: 316 than nothing can happen
