How necessary is an uprated driveshaft?

I used to run 170bhp from my polo, and for this past 6 months I have been running around 200bhp. I have a standard driveshaft and I have never had any problems with it snapping or needing to replace the c.v. joints.

Surely uprated driveshafts are only necessary if you drag race i.e. accelerate hard from a standing start or possibly track days?

I only ever accelerate aggressively from a rolling start and have never had any problems. I never use 1st aggressively, always 2nd and up.

Just wondering if anybody has ever snapped a standard driveshaft and why?
