Hi Gang,

I take it although they look the same, the GT/G40 in-line fuel pump differs internally from any other Mk2f injection models? (i.e they have a high flow rate..) ?

Cheers,

Ross.

Actually, to follow up and that (and blatantly to negate doing any research) What are the specs should I be looking for to replace the OEM pump without being spanked by BOSCH?

175bhp turbo motor, 250cc injectors.

Thanks in advance guys....

Andy

http://www.polog40.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6403 has some info.

I believe Bosch part 0 580 464 070 (sometimes listed on eBay as an '070' pump) is also listed for various old 5-series BMWs etc, and non-Bosch equivalents can be picked up from £20ish on eBay. Genuine Bosch are £80ish upwards, and decent alternative brands somewhere in between. It's overkill for even a 200bhp G40, but is cheaper than an original G40 pump!

Still run a stock pump on mine as I'm OCD about using nice OEM connectors and hate eyelets, though Yoof runs the '070' pump as he always likes to turn stuff up to 11...

Thanks Andy, I knew there would be a thread about it somewhere with some relevance and a lot of detail!

I've got a couple of pumps kicking about, my G40 Bosch one is an unknown quantity and needs a repair to the plastic end where in snapped off during being posted to me. I've had an end turned to put on it but I need some fuel-proof adhesive. This just spells disaster the more I think about it.

The other pump that came off Etches 1.3spi (I think) isn't the right one.

Conscious that a lack of fuel is a piston melter waiting to happen. Think I'll sure-up the loom, check for a healthy voltage and bang a new pump on it. It'll be an aftermarket one - I can live with the eyelets  :D

Safe/Sorry.

Thanks for the input & link.

I bought an aftermarket one on ebay.de. Looks identical to a bosch.

Not sure whether this is the actual one or not.. But it looked physically identical. G40 pump part No. ends 091 iirc.

I think they're £76 posted from the actual vw classic parts site if you search for this: 867906091
